Restoring Hope:
Emergency Shelter for Displaced Families in Jos North LGA, Plateau State
For years, families in Jos North LGA have lived in fear and uncertainty due to violent conflicts and natural disasters that have displaced thousands. Many were left homeless, with no choice but to take shelter in overcrowded camps with poor sanitation and inadequate supplies. Children struggled to find a safe space to rest, and pregnant women lacked access to proper medical care. This project was launched to provide temporary housing, food, and essential supplies to over 1,200 displaced individuals, offering them a chance to rebuild their lives.
Today, the emergency shelter stands as a beacon of hope for the community. Families now have access to clean water, healthcare, and support services that help them transition back to stability. Children are returning to school, and parents are finding new job opportunities.

Katampe new school
Two years ago, Ekunrun's only school had a leaking roof, no desks, and just one overworked teacher for 150 pupils. Through support from Philantify and our delivery partners, the school was renovated, equipped with modern facilities, and now serves over 300 students with quality education.

In Umuako, the nearest health center was a 16km trek away—an impossible journey for pregnant women and the elderly. With Philantify's support, the community converted an abandoned building into a fully equipped care center, now serving over 500 families with essential healthcare services.
